Heng's Nocturne

Heng pushed his way through the low branches, scowling and muttering under his breath. He was purposefully avoiding the paved paths that sprawled through the forests, choosing instead to loose himself best he could amongst the trees. Why, he asked himself for what felt like the thousandth time, did his rider have to be so downright obnoxious? It would serve her right if he just kept on walking, and never returned to the Academy. Serve her right ...
He snapped his teeth at a nearby Impling, and it darted away in fear, glowing green tail vanishing amongst the leaves. Then Heng stopped walking; he'd heard a noise, a branch breaking, come from behind him. He sighed.
"Chloe, come out, I know it's you."
There wasn't a reply. Confused, he turned his head to try and see through the darkness.
"Chloe? Come on, I'm ... I'm not angry any more, alright? Just come out." He asked the shadows. But there wasn't an answer; just the twanging resonance of a bow string, and the whistling of an arrow flying towards him.

fwee this took a while. Fun though Might work on it some more sometime.

Another random bit of my dragon story; I should really stop killing off characters.
